This listing seems to be for more than one L LIMINK product. To be clear, I’m reviewing the L LIMINK ET14 Al Alloy Laptop Screen Extender, 14-Inch 1200P IPS Attachable Portable Monitor.I’ve experimented with a few laptop screen extenders - both from this brand and others. This particular model is my least favorite because the quality of the resolution is horrible. Text, in particular, looks really bad. That being said, I’m an Apple user. I experimented with this monitor on a 2023 15” MBP and a 2018 13” MBP. My sister, who has a Chromebook and a Dell laptop said the quality of the resolution is about par with the computers she’s used to. Personally, I can’t imagine having to read on a screen that looks this bad all day, every day.So, the pros are: - excellent form factor - the way it attaches to my MBP screen is secure, non-destructive, and easy to attach and remove; - single cord simplicity - a single USB-C to USB-C cable delivers video and power from my laptop to the screen; - versatile - the fact that it can be used on the right or left side of my screen or placed on a desktop/tabletop in an upright/portrait/vertical position is really useful; - included carrying case. The cons are:- horrible display quality, even at 1920 x 1200 resolution;- the settings menu is difficult to use and there appears to be no way to navigate back to the top-level menu without exiting settings altogether and starting again; - minimal instructions - only a tiny booklet is included and it only covers the most obvious basics, e.g. how to install the screen. Absolutely no mention of how to access the settings or use the buttons to change your settings. Also no mention of ideal settings. My monitor says 960 x 600 is the default resolution (hello 1992?).In conclusion, I love the form-factor of this particular monitor extender. And the versatility. But it’s nearly unusable for practical work (any text-based work). Images/photos don’t look as bad as text but then I don’t do much photo editing. If the monitor quality were excellent, this monitor *might* be worth the price but as it is, it’s grossly overpriced. I cannot recommend it.
This monitor looks great and works well with my laptop. I don't use it at home, where I have a docking station and several large monitors but this portable monitor is great for traveling with. When you are used to multiple screens at home it is nice to have at least one extra on the road. The resolution is good, and the monitor is bright enough. It clips on to my laptop but can also be used with a phone stand if you like it to be a little further away from your laptop screen. It looks good, works well, and is well made.
Likes- Good resolution and image quality- Plug and play. Worked well with both Mac and Windows laptopsDislikes- The bracket did not work well in any of my laptops. One of my laptops was too big (18 inches) so I knew this portable monitor was not designed for it--that's fine. But it didn't fit my Microsoft Surface Book nor my MacBook Pro. In the case of the Microsoft Surface Book, the hinge of the laptop's screen is shaped in a way that prevents the LIMINK's bracket from latching. I really hoped it would work in my MacBook Pro, but the bracket raises the laptop on one side, so the laptop is wobbly when you type. At this point I wish I had purchased a screen extender with a kickstand, something not connected to my laptop's screen.- High price for what you get.
I ordered the L-LIMINEK Attachable Monitor to use with a MacBook Pro M2 Max/16” while viewing video conferences and simultaneously taking notes. I can now watch a conference and take notes on the opposite screen; no longer obstructing the conference view on the screen when opening another window. My MacBook recognized the L-LIMINEK’s monitor when I used the Type C cable and ports, but I just couldn’t get the monitor to power on when I used the included cable for the HDMI port – probably user error because I’m unaware if I need to perform another function for a successful HDMI’s connection; except that I did also try to connect the monitor with an USB HDMI hub without benefit. The large font display, resolution clarity and ease of use was notable; and my favorite feature was that I can still use my laptop bed table with the portable monitor attached to my laptop. The bonus gray zippered carrycase with cushiony felt-like lining and the outside zippered compartment held all the monitor’s accessories and more. I very much like this monitor.
This versatile screen arrived extremely well packaged in cut-to-fit foam to prevent movement or damage in transit. I was surprised by how thin and light-weight this screen was, weighing just 1.36 pounds. The light weight helps because you don't want something heavy hanging to the side of your screen. It attaches with an adjustable grip clip like you might have used securing your mobile phone in cars or on tripods. Along with a power plug, this product includes 3 cords that should work for a variety of setups and devices. It also includes a padded zipped case, similar to what you would use to protect your laptop in transit. There's no installation or programs needed, just plug it in and it recognizes the device right away, defaulting on my Macbook as an Extended Display. You can choose a variety of resolutions, and choose to Mirror Display instead. I will say the default resolution of 1920 x 1200 did not look very clear and text was too small to read and work on (I am not that old and imagine this would be an issue for most people), so I played around and settled on lower resolutions. Videos played smoothly in the external display, though this would probably vary depending on your computing power. Normal work or presentations would work well.I also tried this out as a display for my Nintendo Switch and the display looks great with no lag. It just needs to be connected to a power source for the setup to work.
